The following definitions apply to these Terms and Conditions:

  • “Cardholder” means the primary cardholder of eligible credit cards.
  • “Promotional Period” refers to the period from August 12th, 2024 to September 20th, 2024.
  • “Promotion” refers to this promotion and not to any of the Bank’s other promotions or programs.
  • “Eligible” refers to qualification to participate in this Promotion.
  • "Purchases" means any retail, internet, phone or mail order purchase or Point of Sale transaction.
  • “Eligible Purchases/transactions” means any retail, internet, phone or mail order purchase or Point of Sale transaction not including returns/credits or any fees and/or bank charges.
  • “Eligible credit cards” refers to Scotiabank Amex Platinum credit card.
  • Reward” refers to the prize which a Cardholder receives when they are selected as a winner in the Promotion.
  • “Good Standing” means that the account is not overlimit or past due by any amount.
  • "Scotiabank" or “the Bank” means The Bank of Nova Scotia Jamaica Ltd. 

This Promotion is opened to legal residents of Jamaica who are 18 years of age or older. These terms and conditions shall be governed by the applicable laws of the named country.

How to Participate/ Prize:

  • During the Promotional Period Cardholders from Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago will receive one (1) entry for every Eligible Purchase/Transaction which meets the minimum spend requirement outlined below and five (5) entries for creating an Installment Plan as also outlined below. There is no limit to the number of entries a Cardholder may receive during the Promotional Period.

Create a New Instalment Plan (Select Pay) with a minimum term of six (6) months, and a minimum Principal Balance of US$300 or equivalent in local currency to receive five (5) entry for a chance to win the reward

For example, if a Cardholder in Jamaica performs three (3) transactions: one for JM$20,000, another for JM$25,000 and another for JM$60,000, this Cardholder will receive one (1) entry for the spend of JM$60,000.

  • Each entry will qualify the Cardholder to be entered to win an All-Expense paid VIP trip to Miami to have a great experience at the Hard Rock Stadium for the Cardholder and one (1) person of the Cardholder’s choice.

Prize Info

  • A package for two persons to travel to Miami (the winner and a companion) for two (2) nights and three (3) days, including tickets for two (2) persons to a luxury suite at in the Hard Rock Stadium. Food and beverages are included in the suite.
  • Two (2) airline tickets, roundtrip economy class, from the Cardholder’s territory of residence to Miami, Florida, USA.
  • Hotel Accommodation for two (2) persons in a double room for two (2) nights and three (3) days, daily breakfast included.
  • Full value of total prize package is USD$15,960
  • Ground transfers from the Airport in Miami to the Hotel and from the Hotel to the Suite at Hard Rock Stadium and from the Hotel to the Airport.
  • Welcome Kit which includes exclusive access to the Suite at the Hard Rock Stadium.
  • The number of winners is also noted in the table below.

Eligibility

  • This Promotion is open to legal residents of Jamaica  aged 18 years of age or older, who hold an eligible Scotiabank credit card with the exception of employees of the Bank, its respective parent companies (The Bank of Nova Scotia and Bank of Nova Scotia Group) and subsidiaries. Employees of the Bank’s advertising and promotional agencies are also not eligible to participate in the Promotion.
  • Eligibility is restricted to selected Cardholders whose accounts are still active at the time of the draw, are in good standing and have not been frozen or closed.
  • All Eligible Purchases/Transactions will be considered toward the earning of entries. There are no limits to the number of entries a Cardholder may receive. All purchases/transactions in local and USD currency are eligible, except in Trinidad & Tobago where only purchases/transactions made in local currency will be eligible.
  • Transactions from unauthorized card use or those made with lost, stolen or fraudulent Scotiabank credit cards will be considered void in the matter of this Promotion.

Draw Prize

  • The draw for the prize will be done on Monday September 26th, 2024 at 11 A.M. by the Regional Marketing Unit at Corner of Duke and Port Royal Street, Kingston, Jamaica.
  • The allotted number of winners will be randomly selected from an electronic Customer database with qualifying entries using a randomizer. Four (4) entries per country will be drawn as back-up winners.

Consumer Disclosure/Notification of winners

  • Attempts to notify the winners will be made by telephone, three (3) times within three (3) business days from the date of the draw. Should the Bank be unable to speak to the winners by telephone within the aforementioned period other winners will be drawn from the back-up winners in their stead. After being notified by telephone, an email will be sent to the winners. The winners will then be required to provide proof of their age and sign an Affidavit of Eligibility/Prize Acceptance and Release within five (5) days of the email notification to be confirmed as winners. The winners will also be required to provide proof of ownership of the eligible credit card that was used to win the prize. A valid form of national identification must also be presented to collect the prize. For example, National ID card, Passport or Driver’s License.
  • If the winners decline to fulfill these conditions to collect the prize, their eligibility will be voided, and other winners will be drawn from the back-up winners in the order they were selected. All unaccepted prizes will be retained by the Bank.
  • Contact will be attempted using the Cardholders’ telephone numbers as found in The Bank’s records. If the winners cannot be contacted by telephone within three (3) business days of the draw date the Bank has the right to offer the prize to back-up winners.
  • The winners’ names may be published in the media. The winners must agree to the use of their names and photographs without compensation in any forthcoming publicity by Scotiabank or the prize may be forfeited.
  • The dates of travel will be from October 19th 2024 to October 21st 2024.
  • The winners and their guests are responsible for complying with and/or meeting the requirements to gain entry to the United States of America, and in particular, the state of Florida, such as the required valid travel documentation necessary to gain entry into the country. As such, at the time of being notified of the prize, the winners and their guests must have valid passports with at least six (6) months’ validity beyond the travel dates and must also have valid and current United States visas.
  • Any winner who, at the time of being notified of the prize, does not have a valid passport with at least six (6) months’ validity beyond the travel dates (i.e. not expiring on or before April 19th, 2025) and/or does not have a valid United States visa, automatically forfeits the prize and another winner will be drawn from the back-up winners in the order they were selected.
  • No assistance with respect to any required visa or other entry application or processing services will be provided and should not be expected/considered as part of the prize.
  • The winners and their guests will therefore be responsible for any Visas, taxes, tips, insurance, and expenses not explicitly stated as part of their prize, and must agree to release, discharge and hold the Bank harmless from and against any and all claims, losses, injuries or damage resulting from participation in the Promotion.
  • The prize cannot otherwise be redeemed or exchanged for cash or any other form of credit.

Exclusions from the Prize: The following costs and/or expenses are to be borne by the Winners and their guests:

  • Any other incidental travel expense(s) not specifically mentioned above. Ground/air/rail transportation not specifically mentioned above (including transportation to and/or from the Winners’ and/or the guests’ homes).
  • Any costs associated with the dispatch/ delivery of passports and/or travel visas.
  • Sightseeing tours and other in-destination activities not specifically mentioned above.
  • Travel related fees/surcharges (including, but not limited to, additional baggage fees, airport improvement fees, taxes, etc.).
  • Long distance telephone calls, room service, laundry service, mini-bar items, loss of hotel property, payment for damage to hotel property, or any other expense incurred at the hotel.
  • Transportation during winners’ and guests’ free time outside of scheduled activities.
  • Excess baggage or overweight fees.
  • Costs associated with obtaining necessary vaccinations.
  • Items of personal nature / personal expenses.
  • Additional meals.
  • Room upgrade.
  • Tips & gratuities.
  • Medical assistance.
  • The winners must provide all necessary personal and travel information in advance about their guests, who must also comply with the terms of these exclusions.
  • Scotiabank will not be responsible for any changes that occur in the aforementioned prize.
  • In the event of customer  cancellation of the prize, Scotiabank is released from all liability and will not apply any refunds or compensation to the winners’ accounts in this regard, nor can the prize be exchanged for cash.
  • The use of your Eligible credit card to make purchases constitutes your consent to participate in this Promotion and your consent for The Bank to obtain your name, address and other information for the lawful purpose of administering this Promotion. Scotiabank reserves the right, with consultation and approval from the relevant Gaming Commissions (as applicable) to void any and all entries of an entrant who Scotiabank believes has attempted to tamper with or impair the administration, security, fairness or proper play of this competition
  • This Promotion is a limited-time promotion which will run from August 19th, 2024 to September 20th, 2024.
  • A Cardholder’s reward earned through participation in this Promotion will be forfeited in the event that the Cardholder ceases to be a Cardholder at any time during the Promotional Period.
  • The prize is not transferable and is subject to change, with approval from the relevant Gaming Commissions (Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission in Jamaica) as applicable.
  • The prize must be accepted as awarded.
  • The Bank will not be responsible for changes to the prizes which result from circumstances outside of its control.
  • Scotiabank will issue no representation or warranty in respect of the prize.

In all matters relating to this Promotion, the decision of the Bank shall be final and binding in all respects, subject to the approval from the relevant gaming authorities.

Scotiabank has the right to exclude any individual from this Promotion in its absolute discretion without any obligation to provide notice or reason.

Scotiabank reserves the right in its absolute discretion to vary the terms and conditions of this Promotion or to change or withdraw this Promotion at any time without giving any reason. In the event of a dispute arising from this Promotion, the Bank’s decision is final.

These terms and conditions apply only to this Promotion and do not apply to any of the Bank’s other promotions or programs or any other promotion or program in conjunction with the Bank and any other entity or brand.
