Wire transfers are a reliable way to move money securely and efficiently. Here’s how to send it with confidence.

What you’ll need

Before heading to the branch or initiating the transfer, gather:

  • Recipient’s Full Name and Address (no P.O. Boxes)
  • Recipient’s Bank Name and Address
  • Recipient’s Account Number or IBAN
  • SWIFT/BIC Code of the recipient’s bank
  • ABA Routing Number (for U.S. transfers)
  • Currency of the transfer

How to send

  • Visit a Scotiabank Branch - Bring your ID and the recipient’s banking details.
  • Complete the Wire Transfer Form -Ensure SWIFT codes and account numbers are correct.
  • Review Fees and Exchange Rates -Service charges and the applicable exchange rate.
  • Confirm and Send - You’ll receive a reference number for tracking.

Receiving money by wire transfer

If someone is sending you money from another bank, make sure they have the correct routing instructions based on the currency.

  • Your full name and address
