How to lock and unlock your Scotiabank credit card

Managing your credit card security should be quick, easy, and stress-free. Whether you’ve misplaced your card or simply want to prevent unauthorized use, Scotiabank Jamaica offers a convenient way to lock and unlock your credit card—right from your phone or computer.

Why lock your card?

 

Locking your credit card is a smart move if:

  • You’ve temporarily misplaced it.
  • You suspect unauthorized activity.
  • You want to pause spending for budgeting purposes.

When your card is locked:

 

  • New purchases and cash advances are blocked.
  • Recurring payments may still go through.
  • You can unlock it anytime when you're ready to use it again.

Manage your card using Scotiabank Mobile App or Scotia OnLine:

Using the Mobile App:

 

  1. Log in to the Scotiabank app.
  2. Tap on your credit card account.
  3. Go to the settings located at the top of your app
  4. Select “Lock Card” or “Unlock Card”.
  5. Confirm your action.

Using Scotia Online:

 

  1. Visit jm.scotiabank.com
  2. Log in to your account.
  3. Navigate to your credit card.

Choose the lock/unlock option and confirm.

When a card is locked, all new transactions will be paused. However, recurring payments may still go through .

If Your Card Is Lost or Stolen:

 

  • Contact Scotiabank immediately to report it.
