Scotiabank urging shoppers to seek savings on Black Friday, Christmas shopping

November 25, 2022 – Kingston, Jamaica - Scotiabank is encouraging its customers and all Jamaicans to capitalize on discounts and specials and to carefully plan their spending ahead of the Christmas Season.

“With tightening economic conditions, persons have to become even more prudent about their finances and consider good budgeting and spending habits to effectively manage their financial obligations,” shared Simone Hull, Marketing Manager, Caribbean North at Scotiabank. As a financial services provider, she noted that Scotiabank is keen on supporting customers by enabling their financial well-being throughout the year.

Hull says “disruptor” initiatives such as Black Friday – which has taken off significantly locally – are especially important because of the huge savings that it provides for members of the public as well as the sales activity generated for retailers and other businesses across the island.

The Bank will also be joining in the shopping celebration once again and offering further rewards for deal-seekers using their credit cards.

“One of the main reasons people like to charge their purchases is to earn valuable credit card rewards. With some smart selections, your cards can earn you up to 4 percent or more back on your purchases and possibly make room in the budget for some of the extra holiday spends persons often encounter. If you are not using the right credit card, you could be missing out on a tonne of benefits and rewards” Hull noted.

On November 25 and 26, at six locations across five retailers – Fontana Pharmacy, Home and Things Ltd., Dunn’s Fine Furniture, Azan’s Supercentre, Spaces Ltd, Appliance Traders Ltd, and Design Diva Ltd., Scotiabank credit cardholders will also have the opportunity to win cash and other incentives with the use of their card during the Black Friday shopping weekend.

Nine lucky Scotiabank customers spending $15,000 and over on their credit cards will get an entry to win Black Friday prizes and they will also get additional entries for each additional increment of $15,000 spent. Additionally, starting November 28, the Bank will also be offering thirty (30) lucky credit card customers a chance to win what they spend this Christmas up to $140,000 each in an island wide promotion.

In closing, Hull also noted that Black Friday is another perfect time as well for Scotiabank credit cardholders to utilize the Scotia SelectPay credit card installment programme. Introduced in 2021, Scotia SelectPay allows credit card users to convert higher cost purchases into smaller fixed payment amounts at no interest with a low fee for up to 12 months.
