Debra Lopez Spence
VP Sales & Service - Insurance & Wealth.
Debra Lopez Spence has a strong background in finance with over 20 years’ experience in the industry.
Since 2010, she has held a variety of positions across Scotiabank including Centre Director, Scotia Private Client Group, Vice President, Small and Medium Enterprises, and was subsequently appointed to VP Sales & Service, Insurance. Most recently this position was further expanded to incorporate Wealth which will require business strategies, plans and initiatives executed in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Through these positions she has furthered the advancement of the bank, successfully leading teams to achieve exemplary growth, and accomplish International accolades, while simultaneously deepening relationships with customers.
Debra also has expertise in business coaching, general management and sales leadership in Jamaica, New Zealand and Australia.
She holds an MBA from Florida International University, and a BSc, with honours, in economics and finance from Barry University, and also serves on the boards of the Jamaica Library Service and the Jamaica Boxing Board.
Brian Frazer
VP and Chief Investment Officer, Asset Management
Brian Frazer has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry and has a wide-ranging experience in trading, treasury, asset management, risk management, operations and product development. In his current role at Scotia Investments Jamaica, Brian is responsible for developing the strategic direction and focus for Investment Management and Product Development for the mutual funds, unit trusts and institutional asset management business lines across the English-Speaking Caribbean Region. Brian leads an investment management team that currently has responsibilities for the management of assets of over US$1.9 Billion on behalf of unit trusts, mutual funds, pension funds, corporate clients and individual investors across the region.
Brian earned his undergraduate degree in Accounting and Economics at The University of the West Indies and has received professional training in accounting, asset/liability and risk management both locally and overseas. Brian is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder and is a member of the CFA Institute. He is the founding President of CFA Society Jamaica and currently serves as a Director and the Chair of the Membership Committee of the Pension Industry Association of Jamaica. Brian is also a director of Scotia Investments Trinidad and Tobago Limited and the Caribbean Alternative Investments Association.
Marco Dane Gordon
Director, Operations Support.
Marco-Dane joined the Scotia Group in 2006 and has worked in various units including Retail Banking, Information Technology and Insurance.
In 2019 Marco-Dane joined the Scotia Investments team as head of the operations unit.
Before joining the Scotia Investments team Marco-Dane was Senior Manager Project & Customer Insights in the Scotia Insurance team where he successfully managed strategic projects including Transaction Migration, Process Optimizations and Variable Compensation frameworks.
He holds a MSc. in Computing and Management from the University of Technology Jamaica.
Marco-Dane is a past student of Clarendon College and Ardenne High Schools.
Sarah Cumming
VP, Head of Capital Markets.
Sarah joined Scotia in April 2020 as Vice President, Capital Markets. As Head of Capital Markets, Sarah is responsible for overseeing the development of the strategic direction of the Unit while leading client coverage, origination, structuring and execution of innovative structured solutions.
Sarah is a purpose driven leader with a passion for creating unique value for clients and delivering meaningful, sustainable results. Sarah has 10 years of international corporate and investment banking experience covering top tier corporates in the power, telecom and consumer branded industries.
Throughout her career, she has been recognized as a talent with strong partnerships who collaborates across boundaries to deliver seamless transaction execution.
Sarah holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Queen’s University.
Camelay K Roberts
Assistant VP Finance & CFO.
Camelay Roberts joined Scotia Investments in February 2017 as the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for the Financial and Management Reporting at Scotia Investments, as well as the development and maintenance of the necessary financial internal controls.
Camelay is an accomplished Accounting Professional, with extensive experience in directing and assisting on a broad range of reviews across multiple industries and jurisdictions within the Caribbean and South America over the last 19 years which includes over 14 years within the Financial Industry.
Camelay is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) as well as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). She also holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Management Studies and Accounting from the University of the West Indies
Sharnakae Stewart
AVP, Business Analytics Strategy & Portfolio Advisory.
Sharnakae supports the business by managing the preparation and dissemination of research generated by the Jamaica Portfolio Advisory Group (JPAG) which guide the firm’s business strategies and objectives, SIJL’s investment advisors, relationship managers, portfolio managers and the clients they serve. She also oversees formulation and execution of strategy and the management of the organization’s key priorities. Sharnakae is also integrally involved in Scotiabank’s regional asset management business, which spans Cayman, Trinidad, St Lucia and Jamaica, where she provides support in the areas of strategy, profit planning, governance and compliance.
Sharnakae began her career in the public sector, at the Bank of Jamaica as an Economist. She later transitioned to the Port Authority of Jamaica where she was responsible for managing the organization’s strategic planning and performance monitoring functions. She also provided critical support to the PAJ’s decision making process through rigorous research and analyses and routinely participated in cross functional teams commissioned to evaluate business cases and make recommendations to the executive management.
Sharnakae holds a Master of Science in Economics from the University of the West Indies and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder. She is a founding member of CFA Society Jamaica where she serves on the Governance Committee. She currently serves on the Finance and Administration Committee of the Broadcasting Commission of Jamaica.
