Scotiabank To Host “Millennial Money Moves” Live Webinar On Sept 17

Kingston, Jamaica – September 16, 2020 – Scotiabank has responded to a growing number of millennials globally who are now looking to home-ownership and other major financial goals.

On Thursday (September 17), the Bank will hosts its first mortgage and money management webinar targeting this emerging group.

Scotiabank “Millennial Money Moves” will offer practical advice on the steps required for securing a mortgage, moving from rental to home-ownership and provide insights on financial planning that can further facilitate this and other major life goals for many.

The web event will be led by Tonya Russell, Senior Marketing Manager at Scotiabank and a panel of other millennial bankers including Kristopher Thompson and Topaz Isaacs - both Business and Personal Banking Officers respectively. During the online session, the Scotiabank team and special guest, Kristofferson Nunes, Founder & CEO of UCA will also explore and provide point by point guidelines on wise spending, savings and investments.

According to the Bank, it has received numerous requests for information about home ownership from persons in this group.

“For the past three months, we have been hosting a webinar series aimed at helping our customers to navigate important financials topics including debt management, cyber safety and digital banking. This webinar promises practical tips on saving for major milestones including home and property ownership, prioritising expenses and selecting appropriate investments to match savings goals. We will also be providing a step-by-step guide for all of these,” shared Russell.

Rohan Hoilett, Manager for Lending Products at Scotiabank noted that the Bank expects to see an increase in the demand for mortgages by first-time home buyers in the coming months. “This is driven by the need for more suitable living arrangements to fit the new “normal” characterised by an increase in work and schooling from home” Hoilett highlighted

Hoilett also encouraged prospective buyers to first assess their personal financial situation, especially with the current economic uncertainty before embarking on such a major undertaking.

Currently, Scotiabank is offering a special promotion on mortgage interest rates until December 2020.

The webinar scheduled for Thursday, September 17 at 4:00 p.m. will be hosted on the Bank’s social media pages and via Zoom. Registration is free of cost and interested customers may register at ScotiaLiveWebinar@scotiabank.com
