Scotiabank Staff Support Dress for Success Jamaica

Kingston Jamaica- August 14, 2020 - More than 100 corporate outfits including clothing, accessories, and footwear – some brand new and some gently used- have been donated by female executives and senior managers from Scotiabank to the Dress for Success Jamaica charity.

“At Scotiabank, we are always very excited to be a part of the Dress for Success Jamaica programme. This is another way in which we show our support for Jamaican women, some of whom are new to the world of work, to take a step towards financial independence,” shared Audrey Tugwell Henry, Executive Vice President, Retail Banking at Scotiabank Jamaica.

She also commended the efforts of the NGO for its ongoing work in providing guidance and coaching in professional etiquette for the beneficiaries they assist.

Explaining the operations of the charity, Minette Bryan, Chair of the Board, noted that when partnering organisations refer ladies to receive support from Dress for Success Jamaica, they provide grooming tips and outfit them for the job interview process. After securing employment, the women return and are also granted five professional outfits to help them look and be their best on the job.

“It is so important for us to provide this kind of mentorship and encouragement to the ladies when they come in. It’s not just about the outfit, we also help them with their confidence, their personal mannerisms, and delivery, so as to ensure that they are in a better position to secure those employment opportunities and ultimately take care of their families,” shared Charmaine Lewis, Founder of Dress for Success Jamaica.

The mission of Dress for Success Jamaica is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. The organization, through their training arm, Image Training Centre, also offers staff training and development services to both large and small organizations locally.
