Scotiabank Community Program
Read Across Jamaica Day
Read Across Jamaica Day saw over 200 volunteers from branches reading to children in schools and libraries across the island. Volunteers spent 30 minutes to an hour talking about the importance of reading, while reading their favourite books to children. This enabled us to deepen and form new bonds and relationships in the communities we do business.
The main project for the day was a reading at the Bustamante Hospital for Children. Senior officials from the bank read their favourite stories to groups of children in the garden, while other Scotiabankers delivered books to children on the ward and read to them
This was a well-received treat that brought joy to many of the kids.
